i installed e/os on my fairphone 5 last month at an open source event (manual install, since the web installer hung indefinitely, but with e/os volunteers close by), and i immediately noticed something: i couldn’t set up a password, and got a “screen lock was already changed. try again with the new screen lock.” error every time i tried.
i was told by a volunteer that an update would come in december, and that it might fix my issue.
later, i found out that trying to send images from the messages app did not work: the button to attach pictures, as well as the ones to take a photo and attach a contact, simply did nothing. trying to share them from my photo library didn’t work either: the share and edit buttons both had no reaction to being tapped.
so i waited for the update to come (yes, i spent almost a month and a half without a password). i installed it this morning, and it didn’t fix my issues.
what should i do to get my password and photo sharing to work?
Many of the threads of other users overcoming this have hashtag frp. They have returned to Fairphone OS, removed the traces of Google account, passwords and PINs then reinstall /e/OS
That “removing the Google account” thing has caused me this error with numerous custom OS. The fix is to reinstall stock OS, confirm old pin and keep everything empty. Next eOS installation will work.
