GT-N8000

I tried a dirty upgrade with this build on my old GT-N8000 since the latest official community version was also Android 9 pie. However the Tablet does not boot anymore since and there is only the green android bot on the screen with the message “Downloading… Do not turn off target !!”

1. Was anyone successful installing this build?
2. Can i still download the latest official community version somewhere?

do you mean :

to do it, you have several options :

they are the same as for regular update…
.

(it is recommended to take a backup of your things in case)

.

1. download the file on the phone, go to “→ settings → system updater” and use the feature called “locale update” (if you have it in the “3 dot menu” at top right of the screen).
   (not possible on device running android 9)

or

2. download the file on the phone, reboot the phone into the recovery mode and use “apply update” then “from internal storage” (if your “recovery mode” have the feature).

or

3. download the file on a SDcard, reboot the phone into the recovery mode and use “apply update” then “from External SDcard” (if your “recovery mode” have the feature).

or

4. Universal Method, download the file on a computer, boot the phone into the recovery mode and use “apply update” then “from ADB” :

I did a dirty update via adb sideload because i wanted to keep my data.

ROM could be too big for the system partition. To expand the system partition, see: https://xdaforums.com/t/tutorial-how-to-resize-system-partition-on-galaxy-s3-for-larger-gapps.4218903/. Note: TWRP needed.

Edit: Also got the same green Android bot on the screen with the message “Downloading… Do not turn off target !!” after flashing via TWRP, @ronnz98. Also on GT-N8000.

After flashing the custom recovery,
You need to get out of the download mode and IMMEDIATLY reboot the device in recovery mode (expected “e-recovery” “TWRP” not “android-recovery”)

Thank you, but I boot to system (tapping “Reboot System” on TWRP) once flash is done, not download mode. The green Android bot with “Downloading” still appears.

Edit: There is no /e/ recovery for GT-N8000, as far as I am aware.

Unrelated to your problem,
but In /e/lineage android 9 Pie based builds, the recovery exist even deeply included into the zip (in a /vendor /subdirectory)

What is your current partition table ?

(You may better start from sane stock version..)

Yes. I used the same instructions to flash html6405’s LineageOS 21 Android 14 ROM and it booted to system.

Can you try to flash LOS16 based Lineage ROM and then dirty flash the /e/OS ROM

I tried that, but ended up with Download mode as well (yes, @piero is correct). Then TWRP got stuck on the teamwin screen. Attempted to flash stock ROM via Heimdall. Had to power off by prying off the battery connector until I broke the solder on one of the battery cables (red). Since I cannot afford to buy a new battery now, I have to put this project aside. Still, thank you for the help, ronnz98 and piero.

I installed this 2.7 ROM on the 8010, and the tablet got stuck on the Samsung logo; TWRP recovery isn’t working, and the only way to get it running again was to install the stock ROM from SamFirmware.

Did you success installing the “Pie” version ?
