@ronnz98 great job you are doing, keeping old hardware alive!

On the SM-P900, /e/os 2.x (from your build) is running great, apart from a few glitches. Some are negligible, and other I attribute the version of MicroG built into the image.

Therefore I wanted to upgrade (tried both - upgrade and complete reinstall) with your 3.x build above. Flashing from TWRP work flawlessly, the P900 boots, works for some time on the “jumping e“ logo … endlessly  . After some time, reboot, and the same again.

I have some hope that you might know what’s wrong, and maybe build a corrected image. I don’t know where to start with any debugging, so here are some bits and pieces that may give you a hint:

  • On your /e/os 2.x build, TWRP stays intacts, unless I select to replace it with the /e/os recovery - which also works.
  • On /e/os 3.0.4, TWRP seems to be replaced by some other recovery. Maybe even while flashing. As opposed to your 2.x build, the 3.0.4 build contains a recovery.img, which also seems to be suspiciously small.
  • I noted that behaviour because I wanted to reboot into recovery, and the recovery won’t start. It just says “recovery does not support SELINUX” (or SE ANDROID?)
    • to repeat the process or go back to 2.x, I then had to re-flash TWRP using Odin

Does that give you any hints why /e/os 3 behaves different from 2? I can live with version 2, but I thought I’d give it a shot in case this problem is trivial - for you.

@Haebaerle /e/OS 2.3 is built with latest sources from myself. /e/OS 3 sources (v1awifi) is untouched/unmaintained for long time, and can have errors.

When LineageOS 18.1 crashes on my S4 (first try) it automatically trying to install recovery.img (which it is bigger than recovery partition like v1awifi)

And… Recovery mode does not boot anymore.

A log can help to update and fix /e/OS 3 trees.

That I noticed , and it explains it.

If you point me in the right direction, I’ll provide logs. However, my technical knowledge in this area are limited, so a hint would be nice!
