I recently installed the update to version 4.1.1 of /e/ on my FP6.
Before that, every once in a while I had an authentication error with Murena. Other users assured me that these happen occasionally, and normally they go away all by themselves. Which they did.
Now the update to 4.1.1 provoked (immediately) this error, and it does not seem to go away, so I guess something is broken now…
For me exactly the same problem, with recent fairphone 6 (NL), authentication fails, no synchronization anymore, so I consider to delete everything, reinstall (fabrieksinstellingen terugzetten, don’t know the correct English term, sorry). But… before reinstalling the ‘fabrieksinstellingen’, I would like to make a backup of the phone to murena, but that is not possible because it needs authentication and that doesn’t work (although I can access murena workspace without problem with the correct user name and password). So, what to do, can anyone give an advice, because I wouldn’t like to wait for the next update… Any help? Thanks in advance
Authentication is broken on the /e/ side, but appears to still work on the murena io side. If you don’t want to wait for this to be fixed on the /e/ side, this workaround did the job for me:
Install DAVx5 to sync calendar and contacts (use murena.io as the base URL and your email address as user name)
Install FairEmail to sync emails (it should find murena io server settings from your email address)
delete the murena account in the /e/ settings
You can find both apps in the open source tab of the app manager
English can be confusing sometimes.
I didn’t do that, I would not understand what I’m doing.
also, is it usual to have to uses workarounds for such important features with murena?
I have the same issue on my FP6 with /e/OS 4.1.1 NL.
A workaround is to click on the message: “authentificatie mislukt” (I guess it’s “authentification failed” in English). This will bring you to the Murena account settings screen. Click on: “opnieuw authenticeren” (I guess “renew authentication” in English), it’s somewhere in the middle of the settings page. …And sync will work again for a while, until the message “authentication failed” appears again. Rinse and repeat.
I have exactly the same problem on my FP6 /e/OS 4.1.1
I thougt that this issuue was coming from the modi that i setup on the nights, so people wont disturb me while i am sleeping (accept family)
But it looks that more people also have this problem.
Same issue on my FP4. The most annoying part is that when I reactivate the authentication (like Fjoerfretter also suggested) my contact list loses every time some of its contacts! Up till 100 now. Not just the ones that I never use, but now also the ones I use on a daily basis. It took me some time to discover the connection.
Really would appreciate a quick update of the e/OS
I have now upgraded to 4.2 and -so far- it seems to have been resolved. I keep fingers crossed, because I also witnessed something others have reported: Whenever I told /e/ to retry connecting to Murena, I lost (!!) one or two contacts from my contacts list in the phone… So all the others who keep reading here: Check your contacts, and if you have a backup, consider restoring it. If you don’t have one make one N O W.
