Updates install fast of S7, snail like on S9 ... why?

Hi,
When:

  • installing e/OS updates
  • via my homes wireless connection
  • which is reasonably quick
  • with both phones sat next to each other on the desk
  • updating to the same version of e/OS

… my S7 downloads the update very fast, yet when I do the same on my S9 - it snails along, often timing out and I have to ‘resume’ several times (even despite having Caffeine - which I have never got to work correctly, which should allow the download to continue uninterupted).

Regardless of the Caffeine issue - why should one phone quicker than the other ??

Could it be that the wireless signal is weak (I am 2 floors above the router) and one phones wi-fi receiver is simply better than the other ?? or is there a setting I am missing.**

When one starts Caffeine from the Quick settings tile one (probably needs to pull down twice):

Edit. The duration (seconds) is expected adjusted by tapping the tile to cycle through the options:

Off, 5, 10, 30, ∞

Own experience: unfortunately the download will not progress in the background (assumed all / most devices) so will always stop if screen lock is applied. Other networking issues might affect speed and whether download fails to “resume” once stopped.

err, I cant get anything from pulling down twice, I pull down from the top of the screen and press on the caffeine button to turn it on (or not press it), either way nothing happens when I pull down a second time.
On the caffeine button I see a count down happening, in the app the countdown is set to one hour, - which accords with the buttons countdown timer.

So still miffed why the S9 times out on update download.

Can I test both phones receivers Wi-Fi strength, the Wifi coming out of the router cant be that bad, as my S7 works fine, just not S9.

Thanks
