Vcard 2.1 doesn't want to import

Hello Everyone,

Merry Christmas to Everony, first of all.

So I just got my Murena Shiftphone 8 a few days ago and wanted to start moving my stuff to it. Since I don’t have a cloud synced contact book, I exported everything to VCard and tried to import it to the Shift. /e/os said there was an error with the data. The old phone is a Galaxy S7 edge with Android 8. It exports Vcard 2.1 version. The Shift also exports 2.1 (I checked both in a text editor). I recreated a contact manually on the Shift that contains quite a bit of info (address, phone, email, note, etc.), and exported that in vcard. Then I tried to import it to my Murena account, but that failed too, it also told me that there was an error with the file. So the Vcard that I exported from /e/os directly, couldn’t be imported to the Murena cloud. Vice versa it’s working, on the S7 can import my contacts that were created on the Shift. The manually recreated contact gives the exact same VCard output both on the S7 and the Shift.

Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong here?

Many thanks,

Peter

If you want to just get the import done, you could use SMS Import / Export | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository … it does contacts, too, despite the name.

As for the technical issue, I have no idea.
Trouble with differing VCF file versions is common, trouble with a matching VCF file version is … interesting. Hopefully others might have an idea, but if not, Report an issue.
