What is the benefit of slow charging speed?

The release notes v3.5-a15 mention:

Added a toggle to choose between fast and slow charging speeds, just like the stock OS.

I wonder why I should enable “slow charging”?

The Fairphone article maximise your battery life does not mention “slow charging”. Another article How to charge does only mention “slow charging” after reaching 80%.

If I have “charging control” enabled to stop charging after reaching 80% (:heart: I love this feature!), why would I want to enable slow charging?

Faster charging raises the temperature of the battery which makes it degrade more quickly.
