Where to start?

Sorry for the newbie and obvious questions but I feel overwhelmed and not necessarily understand where to start.

Is there a section for people who switched over, especially new people? Is there a Samsung S7 section as well?

Thanks and sorry for such basic questions but I’m very ready to dump Android and Samsung.

There are no device specific sections here on the forum. One reason is, that the user interface is equal for all supported devices. (Some small differences between Nougat and Oreo exist)

Switching over from Android should be no difficult task, because /e/ is based on Android. If you are familiar with Android, then you will find a familiar user interface.

One difference is the default /e/-launcher “Bliss” that contains some concepts of Apple-OS and is developed by the /e/-Team, but it is mostly self-explanatory.

Getting /e/ is a bit more difficult at the moment, because it is not available as preinstalled OS, but there are device specific instructions available at https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/wiki/en/wikis/devices-list

If you have difficulties or questions, feel free to ask here on the forum.

Quick suggestions where to start:

  1. Select a device on which you want to install /e/ (see link above)
  2. Optionally apply for an /e/ test account https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/wiki/en/wikis/create-e-test-account
  3. Follow the installation instructions
  4. Enjoy /e/

Awesome, thanks Markus. I guess I just need to sit down and see how it works. I would love to hear/see some testimonies  I’m sure there must a few.

Cheers, Nicolas

@NicolasZart you can check the section https://community.e.foundation/c/e-foundation-community/e-experience for some user experiences and reactions of first time /e/ users.
You can also add your own experiences there.
