“Widevine CDM” in e/OS 3.3

Hi There,

I’m missing “Widevine CDM” under e/OS 3.3 for listening and download Audio-Books (on loan)

It’s needed because of the DRM-System.

Under e/OS 2.8 it was there in the System, but in e/OS 3.3 it isn’t.

Does anybody now a workaround to get it?

Thanks

Short Update:

In e/OS 3.0.1 “Widevine CDM” was still included.

Could anybody check on its Phone with e/OS 3.3, if there is “Widevine CDM” in the System.

You can check this easily with the App “DRM-info”

@Lichtzeichner Can you install the “DRM Info” app from the Play Store and tell the Widevine level ? L3 ?

I have done this and “DRM Info” says, there is no Widevine on my phone!

That’s my problem!

On 3.3-a15-20251213556761-community-FP3 I find security level 3, version 17.0.1@033 but I have a memory that it might have come up before as a problem for certain devices.

Could anybody check, if on e/OS 3.3 official-FP3 “Widevine CDM” is found by the App “DRM-info” ?

Thanks!

Why no copy and paste from DRM Info?

So Baggypants, that means, You also don’t have Widevine in Your system…

How to get Widevine in 3.3 official? I need it!

Here’s my Screenshot:

Update: Also under e/OS 3.4 official, there ist no “Widevine” DRM

Are all the devices in this thread on FP3 / Fp3+ . For the FP3/3+ the issue should be resolved as part of the next release ..v3.5 which should come out in Feb towards the end of the month :crossed_fingers:

Yes, I think so: FP3 with “3.3/3.4 official” has this problem…

I have the same problem. I checked it with DRM Info. I also have already version 3.4-t …. official. It is also a fp3.

Please welcome /e/OS 3.3! :rocket:

Fairphone 3

**Resolved Widevine library issues which appeared with 3.1.4

@Manoj: Does that mean that it would work theoretically, if we install widevine at our phones?
Is there a way to do that?

Not sure that has been tested. Yes, theoretically it should work. As mentioned above widevine CDM will be added in the v3.5 builds of FP3/3+

I Think it should work, because in e/OS 3.0.1 there was “Widevine CDM” in the System.

I don’t know why they have taken it out? Maybe to kill some more of the google-shit…

That “Widevine CDM” in Android is needed for the german “Onleihe”-App and loaning Audiobooks is written here (in german):

And maybe it’s the same for Netflix, etc….

I have a similar problem on my Samsung S10.

But I have Widevine installed with security Level L1
