It is not so hard if you have a suitable PC with 32 G RAM and ideally a clean 500 G SSD. (Although I eventually learned on a sub spec laptop it may introduce more errors that may not be easily recognised. It may also be a handicap if the system is already populated by many unconnected things.) I use a 15 year old i7 HP workstation which the dealer valued at £110 with no OS.
In your case you might build Lineage in order to test your calling issue. Simplified instructions in their wiki Build for kiev | LineageOS Wiki (check the variant first).
Working with insufficient RAM you may be watching the build for 24 hours to get a fail at 99%. Not comfortable. Google AOAP build instructions say 64G; RAM usage is intensive.
I guess this will be a hard first step. It would probably imply that you would be treating it as “build an unsupported device”. I suggest that you would really have to build (and test) the supported device first, before you could easily understand how to modify (??)
I heard from another user who started with stock T-Mobile ROM and are at at the latest eOS ROM and the WiFi calling is working?
I now have a second “kiev” that once eOS 3.1.1 drops for this device I will try it on both.
Is it possible for my to switch from the Canadian ROM to the T-Mobile ROM and then to eOS, how do I go about this without using the Moto tool?
@Manoj can we extend the expiry of this thread once again say about six or eight weeks?
Do you have a copy of the ROM you want to use? If yes inside is usually a flashfile.xml. One can imagine that it should be possible to convert that into a script.
I see eOS has released A15 for this device, hope to work on this this weekend, fingers crossed.
I have one stock device (kiev) that I will test on before I start then go to eOS 15 or what it suggest in documentation, if that doesn’t work I will try the evil Moto tool and try to push T-Mobile stock into it, if the tool will let me?
So I thought A15 was out for this device but not yet.
I want to put the unit back to stock ROM but instead of using the Canadian ROM that the Moto tool forces me to use. I want to put the Metro PCS (closet I could find to T-Mobile) from lolinet.com.
I guess my question is how to you load the stock ROM in manually?
Edit: doing an internet search too. see if I can get it.
