Workspace: modify .docx or .odt from smartphone and other problems

Hello,

I’m using the workspace to share documents, spreadsheets, and photos. It works fine on desktop, but I’m having multiple issues on my smartphone (Fairphone 5, /e/OS 3.16, paid subscription, started ~1 month ago):

1. Editing .docx in the workspace app from phone: I open the file from workspace. When I tap the edit (pen) icon I can add text but cannot delete existing text. I can delete text that I added during the session, but not pre-existing text. Also, I cannot select text (to copy and paste elsewhere).

2. Sync conflicts with local edits: when I edit a file locally (e.g., with Collabora Office) it does not always sync correctly to the workspace. The online file can be more recent than the local copy, and I don’t see a clear way to merge changes, or to see immediately if there is a difference

3. File navigation bug: opening one file works, but after sliding back to the folder and tapping another .docx, the second file won’t open unless I fully close and reopen the Murena workspace app. This is not fluid.

4. Manual sync: sync appears to run every 15 minutes by default — is there a way to force an immediate sync?

5. Version history: there’s no visible document versioning. Version control is essential when multiple people edit the same document — is version history available or planned?

6. Password manager offline access: can the password app be accessed from the workspace while offline?

7. It would be good to access the Vault when offline.

8. Is there a recommended app to modify doc files? (a kind of Openoffice for android). Shouldn’t it be installed by default?

this is good feedback, but it will get lost.

You can individually per issue file at the backlog and register with the mail you used for the forum. From comments I think murena deliberates using another online office suite.

1.-3. → backlog
4. there are circumstances where eDrive triggers a sync, but there’s no button to do so. Would be great to have that
5. looks disabled (does it need nextcloud file versioning? that’d be good anyway) - things like these need to make it to the backlog or they’re not accounted for: Only Office history
6. an offline passwords app seems around the corner
7. vault is cryptpad derived, it’s all webbased, so hard to package up in an offline Android app
