Since phone is only 2 years old but not supported by ZTE since 08/2020 any more i need an updated version of android or i can scrap it.
would like to test it maybe somebody can help ?

Looks like a good phone but it might be difficult to get a custom ROM onto it and even then you may be limited to a GSI.

Can you unlock the bootloader? This from XDA suggests it is not possible…

…won’t work on ZTE phones that launched with Android 8.0 Oreo or newer, and it also won’t work on flagship devices like the Axon 9 Pro, Axon 10 Pro, Axon M, etc.

You could carry out a few tests to see if your phone is compatible with GSI’s following instructions in the topic below. There are also links within to further reading about flashing GSI’s.
