Battery is draining very quickly on FP5

I am having the same issues and I can’t find a clear indication on what could be causing it. None of the suggestions in this thread seem logical. @ImplicitDeny do you have any updates?

I used Cache Cleaner from F-droid to clear all applications cache (both user and system apps). Since then my battery life is almost back to normal : I can use my phone without specific restrictions for 3 days straight.

It is still slightly less than what I used to enjoy (I consistently had 4+ days, not for every full charge but quite frequently still) but it is satisfying anyway.

Since the Murena mail/account problem is still not fixed, I still have the constant notification spam I mentionned earlier. I’m quite convinced that this is the culprit for the remaining battery life I’m missing and that it should not be a problem once this is fixed.

Does the wipe cache feature in recovery can do the job ? or is it too strong, not enough fine (precise) ?

I don’t understand your question exactly. But I never had a situation where clearing a cache had a negative impact. That’s why I suggest it.

you talk about clearing cache per app,
i ask if clearing the entire cache could be too brutal and impact unwanted apps.

I don’t know. Cleaning the cache didn’t have a noticeable effect. However if I put the phone in airplane mode, the drain is ridiculously low. Think, 3 percent over the night. Could that indicate something else?

Sounds like continuous sending (which then stops in flight mode).

Check your data traffic in typical use over a day. If you don’t have a better solution take the Glasswire app. This lists single apps and their real data traffic. So you could identify suspicious ones.

I had noticed this as well, starting in 2.9 and happening twice since. Both times it happened while i was out and about, away from Wifi. So my first thought it was mobile data related.

Checked battery status and didnt really notice anything sticking out. Rebooted couple of times, same issue.

The next area i typically look at is data transmission. Headed over to mail settings and confirmed that both email addresses were set to one hour intervals. Then theres a setting on the same screen with the accounts named “Automatically sync app data”.

Having this disabled “resolved” the issue for me

Two weeks ago I had contact with Fairphone about the battery. They provide a list of action I could perform. The only options I hadn’t done yet was a factory reset. I did this. Unfortunately, it does not seem to have caused much improvement either.

In recent days I hardly had to use my phone, the battery duration then went 100% to 30% in three days. Normally not a realistic scenario for me.

In the meantime I have also turned off the Automatically sync app data function in the mail. With all the adjustments, I don’t really have to charge the phone in the meantime.

I want to thank you all for thinking along and the advice.
