Yes, the Jami android app is good (not perfect but good).
As far as I know there are no bridges. That would be contrary to the “everything encrypted” approach.

i don’t know about that, i think bridges could be encrypted as well! i think the Matrix bridges between Matrix and Telegram, XMPP etc are encrypted:

I totally agree with you, but as eOS provides self hosted option it would be good if there will be an option of self hosted messenger server too…
PS: it doesn’t mean that app should be preinstalled.
