Google Calendar won't sync as an Account?

have you tried this response - adding an app password (“token”) first? applies if you have 2-step-verification on the account

Calendar cannot use Google account

I managed to get the calendar integrated in the Calendar app by following the steps here, but including the previous extra step of setting up an app password.
