Yes the phone is running normally. Yes I saw that, that’s why I asked if I can do it normally. But which one do I need ? I need to boot on the bootloader to be able to flash it right ? So I use the third right ?
Thanks for your patience !

It’s not working ! The fast boot mode aka Download is proposing me three options : -reboot
-erase data
-switch off
And the combination for the recovery mode is not working : the phone will begin to start but as I hold on the buttons it will restart again and again without finishing the restart.
Maybe I send back this phone and order another one witch on it’s easier to install /e/ ? Any suggestions about a phone ?
Ok, Fastboot mode I think of as a communication channel. Your PC should be able to talk to it, but only in the language fastboot
. You should find Fastboot mode stable; it will sit there waiting for you for hours. You observed a menu to leave fastboot mode. Maybe I repeat myself …
When in Fastboot mode ask your phone to identify itself with
fastboot devices
sent from your PC.
Recovery mode should also be stable. There is a problem if not stable. You should be presented with a menu of actions including a method to exit, something like reboot to bootloader / fastboot, reboot to system.
Ask Recovery mode to identify itself with
adb devices
Don’t hold onto the buttons so long.
Very sorry but I think we don’t understand each other (or maybe I don’t…).
When I start the phone manually to the recovery mode of the phone, it propose me only three options that are to reboot or to delete all data on the phone or to switch off the phone. Should I choose “erase all data” ?
If I do not it’s restarting normally
I am sorry. This proposal is just a teach yourself tutorial to explore the darker recesses of the phone. I hoped you would get more familiar with booting modes. But not to do any damage or erase anything, just have the PC communicate with the phone to identify itself.
The length of press of buttons is probably critical but I personally would want to learn how to be fully in control.
Hello !
Thanks for trying to help. I don’t know how to learn how to be fully in control. So I think I will send back this phone. Do you know another model (not fairphone and not murena as it is expansive for a first smartphone) where the installation on /e/OS is easyer ? Or it will be the same for every model ?
Thanks again and very sorry that all your time was for nothing…
for a first teenager’s smartphone i recommand the Galaxy s4 LTE international [gt-i9505] (jfltexx) it is reliable, very cheap and easily repairable, so no angst in case it is broken or lost…
.
Info about Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505, SGH-I337M, SGH-M919) - jfltexx
.

Hi @Mr.G, I understand, Xiaomi are particularly hard and I remember contemplating returning mine! .
The way I started (and continued) was not to use an expensive phone. Maybe with a cheap phone one is less inhibited in experimenting (??).
I would not comment on ease of install; breaking all Android for the first time is tricky and understanding how any one manufacturer uses the built in Google_Android_traps may be easy or difficult for different people comprehend (??) (I took many months to learn on Samsung).
Over the not too distant past, and maybe it continues, Moto have continually brought out low cost phones but failed to provide upgrades for any extended period. Thus there was / is a glut of low cost plastic chassis Moto which might provide a low cost learning opportunity with a budget of €50.
If I was buying a new phone today I might buy the CMF Phone 1; 8G RAM +128G Storage, - Unlocked smartphone with 50 MP Sony rear camera with Ultra XDR, 6,67" Super AMOLED display and Nothing OS 2.6 - Black. That could be a lot of phone for the money, looks like a fairly easy install method and no “dirty tricks” with the bootloader as far as I can read.
