some analog questions :

android_comparison (*) (Last updated: 28 July 2025)
lineageOS-devices
One has to investigate :
- android version 13, 14, 15, … through Aosp
- Aosp adaptation to the phone by the vendor.
- LineageOS corresponding version
- /e/-OS official subsequent build.
for the officially /e/-OS supported phones I try to get these very questionable informations :
-
FP5 : new version aug.24 with android-14
would have 5 major android versions : 14 to 18
and be followed for 8 years (7y to come). -
Pixel 7 : start oct.22 with android-13
3 major updates 14, 15, 16 ?
5y security updates ? -
Pixel 8 : start oct.23 with android-14
7y of android updates ?
aim to support 8y -
Teracube 2s : start jan.25 with android 14
4y of warranty
3y of security updates ?
this phone is not in lineageOS lists -
Nothing CMF Phone-1 :
start july.22 with android 13
or july.24 with android 14 ?
3y security updates
2 major android updates 14, 15, 16 ?
One hope to keep an operational phone more than 4 years; how much time one can use a phone, after the last security-update ?
(I used 4 years a firefoxOS-phone without any update, but only for phone, sms, notes, clock, contacts, radio-FM, very few mails and browsings).
Thank you for corrections and improvements of the expectations and deductions here !

I should have seen this before :
e-os-and-security-updates
(about frequence and delay of updates)
for Asus and Samsung :
“these manufacturers don’t support bootloader unlocking anymore for all or most of their new devices”.
Does this explain why Samsung has only community versions of /e/-OS ?
