That should be it. When you select update driver is it giving you an option to search Windows Update? I mean the driver is there in the Windows Update Catalog and that’s where I got it, but I downloaded it manually from the catalog here
Maybe try updating that other device. I go two unknown devices initially and I might have updated the odd looking one, not sure.
Delete them from the windows devices manager list, then search for new devices

Actually, you didn’t. You installed MTP drivers (required by ADB) which you didn’t need. If it was me I’d back out those drivers. The MTP driver canned with Windows is the one most people on Windows use. It’s possible you might have to install a vendor driver if the phone requires it, but typically that’s not the case. And then you would be getting drivers from the manufacturer web site, not some random web site.
You need to install a fastboot driver which is unrelated to the MTP driver. The only thing those devices have in common is both are required to flash the phone.
Honestly it should not be this hard to get the fastboot driver working. Something is unusual here.
