No way to have newer /e/ then what is listed?

Hello, I just want to make sure I understand this. Each device has a supported /e/ version and Android version and there is just no way to go any higher, right?
For example my Galaxy S8 says it’s /e/ build based on Android 9 Pie. When I installed it I see it is /e/ 0.23
I think Samsung still supports Galaxy S8 with latest Android but there was just no-one who would make newer /e/ for this model, or is there some other limitation? Can I build it differently or only this dreamlte would work and nothing else?

I would expect you to be able to build dreamlte for Android 10, but I believe that LineageOS seemed to stop official support for Samsungs of this generation – so we hit a problem. You will know that /e/ is a fork of LineageOS so this is quite significant.

Unofficially check out [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][dreamlte/dream2lte][[SM-G950F/SM-G955F][10] LineageOS 17.1 | XDA Forums.

Right now /e/ + dreamlte is “waiting” see Week 34, 2022 : Development and Testing Updates.
