Software update for e.foundation Samsung S7

Hi.

I have a Samsung S7 (SM-G930F) from e.foundation with Android 7.1.2.
Is there any plan to update to higher Android versions?
How long will this device be supported with updates?

Due to the fact that Googles G-Mail is discontinuing support for “Less Secure Apps” [1] and move complete to OAuth2 I tried to use OAuth2 with my google account which was not successfully.

Could this be the problem with the MicroG version 0.2.10?
I can’t update MicroG via the e.foundation “Apps” App because it does not update anything.

You can’t update MicroG manually. It has to be done by system Update (via new OTA update).
Regarding Gmail I can’thelp, because from my site of you, a goolag account (in what app ever) has note to stay in eOS.
Better you will swap to an other email provider like e.foundation

Service Core (GmsCore) current stable release 0.2.10.19420 is integrated into /e/ OS and is updated by the /e/ OS Build Team.

The trial version of e-0.7-o(reo 8.1.0) is currently being tested. The migration will probably take a few more weeks. After that the migration to 9-Pie will follow.

Better you will swap to an other email provider like e.foundation

That’s a company account which I can’t switch to another provider because it’s not my company

Service Core (GmsCore) current stable release 0.2.10.19420 is integrated into /e/ OS and is updated by the /e/ OS Build Team.

This is the version which is on the device 0.2.10 19420-43 (0047182)

than you company should offer you an mobile phone

EDIT: I was in an IT department of a worl wide operating company and there was no goolag or anything else allowed to use. Only company prooft apps

One of @al-efound’s questions was how long the S7 will be supported and I haven’t found an answer on the forum, I’m afraid? Is there any news on this and the release on the next update for the S7?

The latest /e/ version I can find on https://images.ecloud.global/dev/herolte/ is from 11 May, which includes the Android Patch level of 5 April 2020. Since then the security patch level of the underlying Android has moved one a bit, meaning that the S7 /e/ base system could have some issues by now. Would be great to see newer builds, even if it’s 7.1.2, with more up to date patch level.

Many thanks for /e/ and keep up the excellent work!

It is planned to upgrade the S7 and S7 Edge to Oreo first, and Pie is in the pipe too.
