Hello,
So, I have a bad news, since yesterday, my Revolut app blocked me with the custom firmware message, even if I did not log out. I guess there was an update (I have version 106304120 now). (Pixel 3a, eos 2.7, not rooted)
I read this entire thread, as well as most of the GrapheneOS thread (where, as a reminder, they were able to make Revolut to work again by changing the ro.build.user
and ro.built.host
properties, with custom values depending of your phone, see the list they suggest).
So I think that:
- There are things that /e/ OS can do about it, even if in the long term it may come down to Integrity checks.
- We should put pressure on Revolut in the meanwhile.
For information, here is the e-mail I just sent to their feedback@revolut com and support@revolut com email addresses, and probably I will send it to formalcomplaints@revolut com as well.
Dear Revolut Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to address an important issue regarding the compatibility of the Revolut app with custom Android ROMs such as /e/OS or GrapheneOS, which many users, including myself, prefer for their enhanced privacy and control over personal data.
Until yesterday, the Revolut app was working perfectly well and I was using it daily, as a Premium user. However, since yesterday, the app refuses to connect me saying that running Revolut on custom firmware is not supported.
I understand the importance of security and compliance in the banking sector, and I appreciate the measures you have in place to protect user accounts. However, I kindly urge you to reconsider your blocking of custom ROMs such as /e/OS. By staying compatible with those alternative Androids, you would not only support a growing community of privacy-conscious users but also expand your customer base to include those who prefer not to rely on Google services.
I would be truly saddened to part ways with Revolut, as your services have been invaluable to me. Thank you for considering this request. I look forward to your response and hope for a future where all users can enjoy the benefits of Revolut, regardless of their choice of operating system.
Regards,
About rating them one star on the store, how can we do this without a Google account?
