Sorry, Revolut is not supported on devices with custom firmware

The main issue is now the custom ROM detection, as there is still no fix for it (except using crDroid, which seems to be the only custom ROM right now that is not detected as a custom ROM).

The ident with the camera has always been tricky, but it worked after some fiddling around (you have to move closer than the line resembling the head lets assume).

I am wondering… There are so many Magisk Modules and LSPosed Apps that do some kind of cloaking… Shouldn’t it be possible that way?

No, I don’t think so, because it’s not something that needs to be hidden (like root), but something that identifies it as custom ROM.

I had to update the app, it wouldn’t let me transfer money away. Transfer worked after update.

As long as you are logged in, an update of the app is possible and it keeps being operational. The problem is if you log out, uninstall/reinstall or make a new installation, it will not let you log in again as it will detect that you are using a custom ROM in that stage.

I don’t believe this is the same problem: I can run the eBay app, login successfully, and use all functionality when running IodéOS, but with Revolut, it runs , but when I try to Login or Create an account, I see a mssage saying ‘Sorry, Revolut is nt supported on rooted devices’.

The eBay issue, which I encountered with other ROMs, recently went away on IodéOS (and maybe on LineageOS for microG - I don’t have a device on hand to check)

The “Sorry, Revolut is not supported on rooted devices” is a different issue and can be fixed by using Magisk Alpha instead of regular Magisk.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear: my device, which runs Ebay but fails to login to Revolut, is not rooted in any way.

If your device is not rooted, you should not see “Sorry, Revolut is not supported on rooted devices” but “Sorry, Revolut is not supported on devices with custom firmware” instead.

My device is definitely not rooted, though I do have rooted debugging enabled. And I do see the ''not supported on rooted devices” message.

And I am only trying to help by pointing out at that the issue with the Ebay app is not the same as the issues with Revolut.

It’s just odd, because if your device is not rooted, you should see the other message. What happens if you disable rooted debugging (whatever that is)?

Exactly the same - I see the ''not supported on rooted devices” message if I select Login or Create an account.

That’s all from me on this one: juts to re-empahsise that the problems some users have ith the Ebay app is a different problem than the Revolut problem

Goodbye

One cannot take the messages so literally!

The app sets itself up to tell the difference between fake google and real google (is what it looks like to me, I may be wrong) and spits out a splash screen with some message which could not really result in litigation. The content of the message is not there to help users of Custom ROMs.

It’s actually very distinct, the “custom ROM” error comes on every ROM I’ve tried except crDroid and the “rooted ROM” error comes whenever a root solution is detected (except Magisk Alpha).

Hi I have the the LineageOS 22.1 Android 15 on Oneplus 9 Pro, rooted, with Magisk Alpha, hide Revolut app but I have also waring…Sorry Revolut is not supported on devices with custom firmware… Do you have any ideas how to fix it please? If it possible?

It’s not possible to fix this because nobody knows how the Revolut apps detect that they are running on a custom ROM.

The only custom ROM which is currently working with the Revolut apps is crDroid, so unless someone with more knowledge and time is able to find out, what they are doing differently, we are stuck.

Okay, at least something. And is it possible to install crDroid 11 directly from LineageOS 22.1 (with open boottloader and root)? Or do I have to put it in OxygenOS stock rom and close the bootloader?

I can’t find any cr Droid app in App Lounge or Aurora Store. Is there a specific name to search?

Anyone tried this on a rooted phone?

Has anyone reported this to their Central Bank / supervisory authority? It doesn’t strike me as legal that a bank forces their customers to get a specific device with a specific vendor (and hence to agree to the terms of service of such vendor)
