I would like to add my opinion about the article. I think it is biased.
In their tests, they used LineageOS with GApps, so obviously data is sent to Google… Without GApps I guess LineageOS is as clean as /e/.

I saw a bit of this criticism floating around. And it is a bit fair. However I do think LineageOS + GApps is the most common configuration of LineageOS out in the wild.

/e/ has also taken an effort too to scrub some leakages to google that would still remain in a vanilla LineageOS install sans Gapps. Such as google DNS.

I would like to see the results for LineageOS fro microG. I suspect they would be very similar to /e/OS
