[UPDATE] 24-Oct '18: 4 new devices added to /e/ daily build

Dear all,

following the recent poll at https://community.e.foundation, we have added 4 new devices to regular /e/ builds:

  • Xiaomi Mi 5 (gemini)
  • ZTE Axon7 (axon7)
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 edge (hero2lte)
  • Google Nexus 6 (shamu)

Unfortunately, Samsung A3 2017 and Xperia X don’t build for now.

Next week we will add more devices again.

Please note that now, daily builds happen only if there was some changes in the source code, for each device.

Next builds will also include a changelog file in the ROM directories.

I admire the spirit and speed of working here. Yet I think it will not be a quick fix, it probably will be a road. For example: sometimes the camera hardware does most of the job, sometimes the software is also important. How will the camera work on different devices with /e/, I wonder?

Hello and thank you for your work on /e/. I’m very interested by a release for the Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 (I voted for it on the main topic). Out of curiosity, why does this smartphone “doesn’t build for now”? Is it an issue with the hardware of the device? Has the situation evolved since October 2018?
