Update /e/OS software

This will be likely be because this 2016 device did not receive a Samsung Firmware revision since you did your first install of /e/OS,

So your S7 probably already had “final and latest” Samsung firmware so you had no out of date vendor parts to consider for any of your future upgrades.

This is an important factor for all of us considering Upgrade of /e/OS; to check has “the date of the final and latest revision” already passed for one’s device. Most manufactures are quite unlikely to upgrade firmware after 2 to 3 years, but one needs to check.

Once /e/OS is installed the significant date, Vendor Security Patch Level (manufacturers may use further different terms eg Baseband version), can be found in Settings > About phone > Android version.

Thanks for your helpful and quick answer. I understand now. The last vendor patch my phone has received was in apr 1, 2021, so that explains everything.

hello! Thank’s a lot for this tutorial!

My problem is that my phone dosen’t find new upgrades. I just realised that il tells me that I am running the latest version since novembre 2023 =s ( the version is 1.17-r-20231111351093-dev-dreamlte)

I tried to install TWRP on my phone trough my computer, in order to upgrade my phone troughmy computer. But when I run adb reboot bootloader my phone just says “download” and nothing happends and when I run “fastboot devices”, It dosen’t find anything.

Is there a way I can solve this? Either help my phone finding new updates, or install TWRP?

Thank’s a lot!

Hello @Lexo, Welcome to this forum.

Easiest way is the “locale update” feature of the “system updater” in the “settings” menu.
But it is not available in /e/- R versions

So, i see two options :

  • first is to use your actual recovery mode

    • to apply the update (here upgrade) by sideloading latest build from your PC
    • to apply the update (here upgrade) by installing latest build from the device itself
  • second is to flash latest recovery and use it

    • to apply the update (here upgrade) by sideloading latest build from your PC
    • to apply the update (here upgrade) by installing latest build from the device itself

/e/OS community dreamlte download

Your device is a Samsung where “fastboot” commands are unusefull, you have to use Brand specific flash-tools if you want to flash some partitions to your device and depends about the OS running on your PC

in any case, to keep your things, don’t apply “factory-reset” format or wipe /data partitions

[HOWTO] an Unified Install Guide Project for /e/

I’m looking for information on the availability of Android 15 for my CMF phone-1, which I bought from Murena in January. My Samsung tablet updated to 3.1.4-a15 last month. However, my CMF phone-1 remains on update 3.1.4-a14. I did get an email message from Murena about updating to e/OS 3.2, but the CMF phone-1 wasn’t included. Any helpful information would be much appreciated.

The information will usually be posted in the weekly post not here.

Edit: checked community build, has also no a15 same as official

The A15 upgrade for the CMF Phone 1 is to be planned. It will be an OTA OS upgrade on the official build. Will share the ETA from the team once I get it.

Hi,

Yesterday the official update was available, but today it seems to have disappeared. I have no option to update now.

If it was once showing It is possible that, as 3.4 was withdrawn briefly, the updater needs to be cleared of this “memory”.

Settings > Apps > (3 dot menu) Show system > Updater > Storage and cache > Clear storage.

If @aibd’s suggestion doesn’t bring the update notification back immediately, it could be the staggered release at work again, in which case you could make the update reappear by hitting the refresh button in the updater several times.
