2025-Samsung s20+ EOM unlocking

Hello guys,

I have just bought an s20+ ( Galaxy s20+/s20+ 5G ). Unfortunatly the “unlock oem” option is not available in developper options. I have tried several methods from videos that indicates to modify date and time and so on. But no result for me.

Your help welcome

Two things come to mind, you need to be online, I think preferably Wi-Fi and mobile data if you have any difficulty with one only. Recently seen a few like this https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s23-series/unable-to-access-phone-since-one-ui8-update/td-p/13438356 do you have UI 8?

It is UI 5.1
I have received this morning a new Tab S6Lite which I also wanted to migrate to /eOS/. Same issue: no “EOM unlocking” was first available in the option. So I did the “date tweak” trick and it did work: The “OEM unlocking” option is now present. And this one is also UI 5.1

I don’t know what is different with the S20+ . Did someone encounter this difficulty?

I just tried this : fast boot mode

[@localhost Bureau]$ adb devices
List of devices attached
R5CN2139FZW device

[@localhost Bureau]$ adb reboot bootloader
[@localhost Bureau]$ fastboot oem unlock
FAILED (remote: ‘unknown command’)
fastboot: error: Command failed
[@localhost Bureau]$

It does not work
Here is a photo of the fastboot displaying:

i am surprised !
on Samsung devices, you need a custom recovery like recovery-e to reach fastbootd mode, but you need an unlocked bootloader to flash a custom recovery…

also (kona) is the device name for the Galaxy Note 8.0 (2013) - GT-N51xx series

.

is it really YOUR screen photo ?

Hello @piero

Yes. Five minutes ago. After the command adb reboot bootloader

what is model number ?
SM-Gxxx

what is

adb shell getprop ro.product.device

[@localhost Bureau]$ adb shell getprop ro.product.device
y2q
[@localhost Bureau]$

“y2s” is mentioned in the eOS doc. Here it answers “y2q” ?

SM-G986U1 !

why you won’t be abble to unlock the bootloader, it is an USA market specific model, recognizable by its U at the end,
and last but not the least, it is a carrier shipped device recognizable by its 1 at the end
(some can be carrier unlockable but not bootloader unlockable).

can you obtain refound from the seller ?

.

(s) is for Exynos shipset, when (q) is for Qualcomm chipset.
