5G connectivity problems

Hi all,

I’m new to Fairphone and /e/OS, I received my phone last week. I really enjoy it but since the beginning of this week, I’ve had a major problem that I can’t seem to improve despite restarting my phone : I’m experiencing extremely slow connections, or even complete connection failures.

For example, I can barely listen to music on Deezer. I also can’t send messages on certain third-party apps like KakaoTalk. I haven’t been able to send work emails since monday.

Note that WhatsApp and SMS work. But email (Outlook) and Deezer don’t. Since both use 5G, I don’t understand why some work and others don’t. Once I’m home on Wi-Fi, everything works.

But it’s essential that I can at least send emails outside my home and at my work site, especially since my phone attracts attention from my colleagues.

What could be affecting the functionality of these apps when using 5G ? I’m definitely not in a mobile dead zone ; I work in Grenoble. I’m on Fairphone Gen. 6, with /e/OS 3.7.1-a15.

Thanks if you can help,

Have a nice day

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online services

A forum :magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Search like “5G” connectivity + #fp6 might give troubleshooting clues. If you disclose your carrier others may recognise if the problem is there.

Welcome,

What is your mobile operator??

  • Free Mobile??
  • Orange??
  • Bouygues Télécom?
  • SFR??

Hi Espadon,

Thanks for your answer

My mobile operator is Orange !

Strange!
Orange is a Fairphone’s partenaire and Fairphone 6 is on Orange’s list:

Do you use only an eSIM??

No, I do have a physical SIM card, which I removed from my old phone (iPhone 11 Pro).

However, when I check the SIM card properties on the Fairphone, it says “No roaming.” in the roaming section. Is that related ?

I haven’t changed anything about my plan since switching from my old phone last week !

Could you post a screencast of that and post it on the forum?

Perhaps try Fixing "No Roaming abroad" bug (Fairphone6 with /e/OS3.6 and e.g. Congstar)

Hello everyone,

I finally found the solution : the default access point was simply Virgin Mobile, even though I’m with Orange.

I tried creating Orange access points by reading documentation online, but I never managed to get them working. In fact, I just needed to switch to Orange World ; everything has been working since (Deezer, my chat apps, etc.).

Thank you so much for your help. I hope this problem isn’t affecting too many people, as it can be difficult to diagnose

Have a good day,

Nilsson
