Abbott Freestyle Libre 3 App not working

Hi, as the topic Is the LibreLink app possible on /e/OS? is unfortunately already closed, I start a new one here. While I am a diabetic using a freestyle libre sensor too, it might be important for other diabetics which plan to migrate to /e/OS.

I installed /e/OS on my old Samsung S8+ (to test it before I migrate) and had the following issues with the “FreeStyle Libre 3 - DE” app:

  1. Installation: When I was logged in with my Google account in App Lounge, I could not install the app. I was redirect to something that looked like the webpage of the Google Play Store with no button to install it. When I used App Lounge anonymously I could install it
  2. After the installation, everything looked fine, but then the most important and main thing didn’t work: I could not scan a new sensor. As a response I got a beep and then an error message (Scan Fehler. Das Smartphone konnte den Sensor nicht scannen) which shows, that the app detected the sensor but could not scan it correctly.

So, I was wondering, if you (@Annabelle1) are not using Libre 3 to scan your sensor? Do you really only need the Libre Link App?
Or is it in fact working with Fairphone 5 but not with my old Samsung S8+? Would be happy to hear from you

I also enabled all permissions and trackers, with no success.
And I have NFC enabled.

For diabetics using Freestyle Libre it might be important to really check this out

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

Abbott provides also a Bluetooth device for these Libre 3 sensors. This looks like the older devices for the Libre 1 and 2. I always found this the right way because these proprietary medical mobile apps are typical nightmares in data privacy, you have absolutely no control which personal information goes where.

Oh, yes, you can use a special device instead of the smartphone. But it does not have the same features and you always have to carry two devices with you. But you are right, this is then a decision between privacy and convienence

No, not an app, a small hardware device with a touch screen.

yes, I edited my post (misunderstood your reply)
