This is really a carrier issue but AOSP users find “unknown number” hard to resolve as a forum search would reveal. (Loosely, carrier fails to send number in expected way due to complexities of higher level network.)

Did the problem exist when you first installed and before APN adjustments? I think it might be interesting to see the effect of

Settings > Search facility > Access Point Names > top right 3 dot menu > Reset to default

• Edit, only mentioned as APN can be in a different location by device / version.

When you do this do you get the impression from the time taken that the device attempted to contact the carrier for the “default”?

i thought a solution for some if not ideal.

It appears that this is a well-documented issue on certain networks. Some users have managed to resolve the “unknown caller” display on the FP6 by turning off 4G calling, though this does reduce call quality.

I have reported the issue to my carrier, but after checking they have attributed the problem to the phone and OS manufacturers. My carrier also mentioned that the manufacturers have been notified regarding this incompatibility.

Hi I don’t know if the the problem exist when I first installed and before APN adjustments.

I can’t find “Search facility” in settings but I did test different APN settings and none appear to make any differences

I also tried resetting default settings but this made no difference.

I had to turn off 4G calling. It now recognises the caller.
