I’ve bought a Fairphone 6 with /e/OS as a second device beside my current iPhone, and I’m trying to replicate my various solutions on the new device. In particular, on the iPhone I use some shortcuts that I created to write text files (markdown) and append lines to existing CSV files. The files reside online, so I have a simple and open system to keep track of a series of things, like medications taken, etc. What could be the best way to create something similar in /e/OS? Sorry if the question is stupid or the answer obvious, but I have almost zero Android experience and it’s difficult to evaluate the capabilities of apps seen around (like Tasker).
It’s said MacroDroid has less of a learning curve than Tasker but has its plugin support, then there’s Automate. There are some threads on them, but not much discussed here (by title at least).
Obsidian is a big note-taking community and its users do automation, you could check these out for examples (funnily avoiding Obsidians delayed startup through MacroDroid).
Watched some videos of iOS Shortcuts, pretty slick. Will be interesting how things compare after you used devices side by side for a time.
thanks for the thoughtful reply. Shortcuts is indeed pretty slick, though limited in some ways. I had a look at Macrodroid, but was scared by the number of trackers. I’ll try out Automate and Tasker first I think.
