Android 16 on /e/OS

I understand that the email I received a few days ago announcing that the 6th generation of our Fairphone would be getting Android 16 is only for Android phones, not for e/OS…
Is that correct?

Yes, that email was just about “Android OS” (how Fairphone calls its own google-certified OS) for the Fairphone 6. But Murena has already released the first Android 16 versions of /e/OS for the FP4 and FP5 yesterday, and I think the FP6 will follow soon.

Note that for a start, only the community version of /e/OS will become available for Fairphones, the official version – that everyone has who bought a Fairphone with /e/OS pre-installed – will require more time (to make sure the OTA upgrade works without problems).

This is the first list of supported devices that will get the A16 community build Devices can be added or removed from this list based on the status of the build. In case builds fail for the devices we would attempt to rebuilt them. Devices for which we cannot make builds in A16 will continue to receive the next lower OS level build which works for it.
