The documentation warns about the anti-rollback feature as follows:
" If you try installing a version of /e/OS based on a security patch that is older than the one on your device, you will brick your device."
I’m not at all technical, so I don’t know how to figure this out.
I just purchased my phone with an Android 13 and updated the factory OS today.
Will I brick my phone if I install the latest stable build with Easy Install on my phone?
Will Easy Install warn me if I’m about to trigger the anti-rollback feature?
The install guide specifically warns of “installing a version of /e/OS based on a security patch that is older than the one on your device”.
This clearly is the case now, Fairphone OS on the device is July 5, /e/OS is June 5. So, no installing /e/OS now.
For the same patch level date, the install guide has this …
"Example 2
Your FP4 with Google Android has a Security Patch Level saying June 5, 2022.
The /e/OS build available says: /e/OS build : R official (Security patch: 2022-06-05)
In this example, the /e/OS build has the same Security Patch level than the origin, so the anti-roll back protection will pass, and you will be able to install /e/OS with no issues."
