with latest security update for pixel phones, google introduced an anti-rollback in stock rom.
It means there is probably no way to flash android 14 in downgrade from android 15.
So no way to flash the actual /e/ 2.9 build…
No, it’s even simpler than that unfortunately, it would appear that it’s impossible to downgrade to Android 14 if you’ve installed the May 2025 security update.
Also, since I made this update without knowing that there was this anti-rollback implementation, I’m good to wait for v3 of /e/ under android 15 to (re)switch to /e/.
Hello everyone,
I see this topic unfortunately too late. Having no warning on the documentation e os I launched the instant from Iodé OS which was under Android 15 with the security patch of June.
My phone is completely brick. Nothing lights up anymore.
I was very happy with Iodé OS, but I wanted to try E os 3, and now I’m without a smartphone.
So fyi I was able to downgrade a Pixel 6a from Android 16 to Android 15 thanks to this XDA thread where I found an Android 15 image (as Google doesn’t provide anything older than Android 16 on Pixel 6a now).
The file android-info.txt has already been modified in that image to bypass the anti-rollback. So you can basically unlock the bootloader, put your phone in Fastboot mode and then run ./flash-all.sh (or .bat if you are on Windows) and you will have Android 15 back, from May.
And after that I was able to flash /e/ Recovery and then the OS successfully.
No idea, I just booted it on Android 15, enable developer mode, enable USB debugging, and then immediately flashed /e/. But I see no reason why it would not work flawlessly with Android 15.
