App Lounge and Aurora Store : cannot install any app

Howdy !

This is my very first post here, I hope I’m not too awkward

I recently installed /e/OS on my Redmi Note 9 (merlinx) with the last version available.
After the initial setup, I tried to install several apps with App Lounge, but nothing seems to work. The installation button says “Retry” (“Réessayer” in french).
I tried with Aurora Store, but none of the 2 installation options is working.
The install option says : Impossible to retrieve files (“Impossible d’obtenir les fichiers” in french).
The manual download says : Asked version code is not available (“Le code de version que vous demandez n’est pas proposé” in french).
Actually I can’t install any app without the .apk way.

What can I do ?

Thanks for your help !

Hi @Doric welcome to the /e/ forum.

For App Lounge there is this App Lounge F.A.Q. It is mentioned there that parts of Advanced Privacy may interfere with the process; this may also be relevant with Aurora store.

I guess you already have https://f-droid.org/ as a standby.

You can install Aurora Store using the apk, bottom of page here; https://aurorastore.org.

You can install F-droid with the apk here; https://f-droid.org

It is also sometimes necessary to go to Apps>App Lounge> Storage and cache> Clear Cache.

Then go to App Lounge and hit setting and Log Out, while in there you may want to uncheck Automatically Install Updates. I like to uncheck that so when an app needs an update I know what the app is. Once done that sign back into the App Lounge in Anonymous Mode.

For Aurora, can try to clear storage, change IP or wait for a while.
Sometimes it stops working for no clear reasons.

Hello @Doric
I’m having the same problem with AppLounge. When updating or installing, the download goes through fine, but then the button changes to “try again”. I tried in anonymous mode and with a google account, I also emptied the cache, without success. For my device (Mi 10T lite, Gauguin), it’s been like this since the upgrade to Android t.

As far as I’m concerned, AuroraStore works fine.

Thank you all for your answers !

Unfortunately, still no luck with App Lounge, even with your advices.

But… Aurora Store today is functional, not sure if clearing the cache or the waiting did the trick, but now it works

Thanks again guys !!

Hi,

It not works again with Aurora Store or App Lounge for a lot of apps. It’s very complicated.

I am running App Lounge on a FP4 (for about 8 months), updated to eOS 3.0.4. In the last 2 weeks I’ve had 2 instances of the app downloading just fine, but the install locks up - occurred on 2 separate apps, 2 separate occasions. After simple clear cache/reboot, etc to unlock frozen install I had to log out of App Lounge, then clear App Lounge storage (& cache), and log back in. Is this something others are seeing?

So then, after reading forum threads regarding App Lounge I installed Aurora. But this has only raised more questions. This morning I awoke to updates needed for Spotify & Booking.com via App Lounge; updates needed via Aurora for Magic Earth, Google Play Services (?!?!?!) and SIM Manager (also identified as a Google app) - WTF? eOS come pre-loaded with these Google apps?!?!?! - because I’ve not put them there. Are they opensource? I get it that apps on different distribution services might be different versions, e.g. Magic Earth or Booking.com per above (that’s been discussed elsewhere on this forum) - but does an app installed from Aurora put me “out of sync” with App Lounge or vice versa. But, separate question, especially for the Google apps: Should I update them? Why isn’t App Lounge telling me these Google apps need to be updated?

So far I have not updated any of the apps. Any guidance is appreciated!
