“trekarta” is an interesting case, because it’s GPL-3 licensed open source software and downloadable for free on the authors web page, but it’s not available via f-droid (see: #44) and the correspondence between the GPL protected source code at GitHub and the two binary offers in googles playstore (mobi.maptrek.lite, mobi.maptrek) are a little bit confusing. nevertheless it’s a rather useful map viewer for outdoor activites and perhaps an interesting test case for /e/ to overcome a few of this annoying side effects of more commercial oriented [closed source] app stores.

I use X-Plore file manager (com.lonelycatgames.Xplore) quite a bit. I don’t know if it is open-source and/or privacy compliant but I have found it very useful and it includes a number of file viewer/player options that might address requirements that I’ve seen in another thread about a document viewer.

Here’s another one for those of us in Canada. Our national weather service (http://weather.gc.ca) has a nice new app “ca.gc.ec.weather_app_android.ops” [ I kid you not ! ] It is not currently available except through the Play Store but I’ve written to them with a suggestion that it be made available for Android versions that do not wish to depend on the #Google.Data.Borg
The Zazen Meditation Timer is simple little meditation timer without any ads or “social” overlays. It was withdrawn from the Play Store as the author was having difficulty maintaining compliance (see his note at https://www.facebook.com/ZazenMeditationTimer) which contains a link to an APK repository. I haven’t seen any other meditation timers listed in this thread yet but perhaps we could organize a team to take over the support of this one and make it open-source and privacy compliant.
