Backalspace after whitespace deletes the whitespace before the word being edited

Odd and annoying keyboard behaviour i don’t know how to fix it.

This text as a an example:
The quick brown fox

If i add a whitespace after the word fox, and then backspace the whitespace and the character x, when i get to the letter o and press backspace, the letter o is kept, but the whitespace between brown and fox disappears . the sentence ends up as :
The quick brownfo

Doesn’t happen on all input fields. Happens for example on
Jtxboard

A workaround is to disable the keyboard suggestions which is very unproductive
