Bliss launcher: Taskbar keeps crashing/appearing over bottom menu

Hi everyone,

I just installed the latest /e/OS 3.0.4 on a Samsung S5e tablet and I have serious issues with the Bliss launcher (apparently) on this device.

I have used /e/ for years now and have experienced a few small issues with the launcher, but on this device, the whole UI soft-crashes sometimes when the taskbar is active and the app switcher is opened. The locker and settings still work, but the launcher is unresponsive and has to be restarted.

Also, sometimes the taskbar icons appear above the bottom menu whether or not it’s active.

I tried to set the interface to 3-button navigation (which I preferred anyway), but that doesn’t seem to work anymore, as the taskbar still appears sometimes and the buttons disappear, making navigation impossible.

Is there any known solution for this or maybe a way to use another launcher entirely?

I sadly have no Input for your general problem, but installing another Launcher is like installing every other app. Many people like Lawnchair or Trebutchet, some really like Niagara Launcher. I for myself like very minimalist Launchers like Before. There are quite a lot of options really.

Once you installed a Launcher and start it the first time, it usually asks you to make it the “default home app”. This time, Android uses the new launcher instead of Bliss if you tap in your home button.
You can also always change the default home app in settings.

I looked at the backlog if the soft crashes or behaviour is cataloged.

Going through the Launcher tag + tablet, does a description fit your issue (open and closed)?

If you widen it to Launcher tag only, does anything recently created (as in >1yr) fit?

There’s 2 issues mentioning the s5e, but its more about UX than crashes.

Uploading a demo video of the behaviour to a new issue or attaching to an existing will improve the chances of attention.
