The BlissWeather widget was working fine for a couple of days until I restarted the device. The widget is now blank and nothing I do seems to be doing anything (location permission is still allowed). I’m running e/OS 3.3 on a FairPhone 6.
The settings are the icon top right. There are my settings working fine here.
Weather source, is default OpenWeather (fixed here).
Update Interval → 2 hours
I use Custom Location (if alternative, Bliss must have Location permission)
Locatiion. When you set this you must use the correct naming convention for your chosen location by choosing from a selection. In certain cases it may be possible for a user to set an unrecognised location. Maybe try a nearby well populated location till you see how it works.
Thanks, I’'ll input a correctly entered location and see if it works. How long is typically the sync with OpenWeather?
What is strange though is that I have the same issue even when not using a custom location (i.e., when it should use my current location), so the issue might not be related with me having entered a non-recognized location.
Sorry, I unable to advise on technical aspects. I didn’t add any location but it just worked (although I am not in Brussels!). I also allow location all of the time in Bliss weather settings.
xander2m: Indeed, I have the exact same app permission settings
aibd: I put Paris (FR) as a test, and after a few hours it did update correctly. However, afterwards I put Brussels (BE) but it is still stuck on Paris since yesterday haha
Whether this is normal behavior or not, it does feel like the app is broken/ barely functional
Perhaps worth mentioning that on a different system I did find https://openweathermap.org/ very particular that it is correctly set. I was not altogether surprised that having set a non valid location it was hard to undo.
When resetting Brussels were you shown the “Confirm location” window I showed in Post #6?
I managed to make it work following your suggestion, thanks a lot aibd!
What caused the issue was that the “Select location” window didn’t appear for some reason. So even after inputting Brussels (BE), as shown in the Post#6 window, it was still not recognized as a valid location. Somehow typing “Brussels, BE” instead did the trick and tiggered the popup window to appear.
So, my take is that this is indeed straigthforward in hindsight, but the app could benefit by guiding the users some more, e.g. by explicitly mentioning that an input is not valid/ not found.
Hmmm… I was running v3.3 at the time, but I saw in the 3.4 release note that they fixed a bug and improved the location search of Blissweather. Maybe try updating to the latest version if not yet the case?
