I cannot edit a photo using the gallery app to rotate and crop it. The photo is saved rotated, but not cropped.
Steps to reproduce
Open a photo in Gallery,
Click the pencil (edit) symbol,
Choose the Gallery app as editor (if Gallery is the only editor, this step will not be necessary).
Rotate the photo.
Crop the photo.
Save the photo.
Leave the editor.
Search the newly created image file in the Gallery app.
I would expect…
…that the photo is rotated and cropped.
What happened instead:
The newly created image file is rotated but still has is original size - it is not cropped.
Workaround
I can crop the image file by opening the already rotated one (which was created with the steps about) in the Gallery apps edit mode and it is created another image file which is cropped.

further questions
There’s gitlab.e.foundation. Could someone post a link to the correct bug tracker to report this issue at the gitlab instance, please? Sadly, I cannot find the issue tracker for the Gallery app.
Please note in Report an issue the section about “email not accepted” if a paying customer you are directed to a Contact us form. Affected free users are directed back to the forum here where you are asked to DM an Admin (rather than ask openly on the forum as real ID will be required).
I have noticed the same behaviour in a15. The first edit is unsaved (if not saved deliberately) so moving to another edit results in working on the original again.
Your link leads to an issue about editing pictures saved on the SD card. It is unrelated to my issue. In my issue, it is about images in the internal storage which I can edit, but not all changes are applied to the saved image.
This is unrelated to my issue because in my issue the first edit step is applied and the second is not. In your issue description, the first edit (step?) is unsaved (aka not applied) but the second is. Your issue seems to be the opposite of mine.
