Camera app broken since update to 1.53.1

Hi !
Since the last update in 2.5, the app Camera have been updated to 1.53.1
BUT, the camera work well but it’s now impossible to go to the “photo settings” menu…
Video settings, ok, localisation, ok, interface ok, but photo settings, the app crash completely with no error message.
It’s pre-installed with e/os/ so impossible t install it again
Help please !

    I can confirm the bug.
When you try to open “photo settings” in the Camera settings menu, the app just crash.
    Deleting app cache didn’t help.

Please share phone and build information. I’m on a S7 and everything is working well. The green tinted hdr pictures have been solved with this version on my phone at least.

Any more informations on this bug ? Will it be fixed in the next 2.6 release ?

On a Samsung in the past sometimes it was necessary to open Camera app > Settings icon, top right > scroll to bottom > Settings manager > Reset settings.

Thanks but unfortunately, as the “update cache” trick, it did nothing to help. Bug is still there.

A temporary solution, i think, is to install opencamera via fdroid (-> OpenCamera). It will do exactly the same stuff(it’s the same app), but be less likely to bug. I once had trouble with hdr mode on /e/OS camera and installing the same app via fdroid just solved it. I believe there’s something wrong with the modifications /e/ brings to its stock camera.

The default /e/os Camera works well as it is for me but those little bugs and annoyances are quite infuriating. As you can’t uninstall default /e/os apps I hate having to install alternative apps to replace the ones carried with the default /e/os.
I guess it’s a workaround someone may find helpful though. Thanks for your suggestion.

It didn’t worked for me sadly.
OpenCamera work but it’s must be a temporary solution…
How can we have a dev confirmation that it will be be fixed in the next release ?

Looks like it will be fixed in the new 2.6.3 release :grinning:

Yes that’s a great news but sadly, the update is not avaible for me, it said that I already have the latest in Ota :sob:

Be patient, it is a staggered release over the next week.

Like @MRTN said.
Also I confirm the bug is resolved in 2.6.3 :+1:

Ok but in the changelog note, it is written : “Please note that for devices which are installed with a Community version, the upgrade needs to be done via a computer.”
I have the Samsung S10e wich is a community version, no official version.
Do I have to update through computer or it will come through OTA anyway next week ?

Because I have tried to update it manually through recovery and even the built in updater, i have an issu with “the current recovery does not seem to support dynamic partitions” :smiling_face_with_tear:
I need to fix the camera settings bug as soon as possible

EDIT : I found the way but i have to update the recovery and wipe clean, sad
