I have been using the default camera app on eOS on my Teracube, and well… it’s not doing it for me. The majority of the time (75%+) the camera simply will not focus, despite settings being all “auto”. Restarting the camera works only a small portion of the time to engage the focus. The manual focus is exceptionally difficult to use, and focus distances don’t match what’s described. Even when the focus does engage the photos are poor quality. When I can visibly see the lack of sharpness on my phone, I don’t think it’s good enough to use for anything beyond texting. It’s leaving me pretty frustrated, since the camera on my Xperia (yes the original from 2008) with only 10MP takes better photos! I really don’t want to carry around my Nikon, but I am so accustomed to having a device that takes decent photos on-hand at all times.
We do the equivalent of family album/scrapbook each year, and 90% of those aren’t from our formal photo sessions. They’re from the photos taken on the fly with my phone. I don’t expect professional quality, but I do have an eye for this sort of thing! I need a better quality of photo that can be viewed at least on tablets/web, and preferably also produce quality 4x6 prints.
I’ve tried OpenCamera, and it’s basically the same as the eOS with a few less options. I’ve tried LibreCamera and it’s far too simplistic - not offering any shooting options for different environments or situations. I’ve previously used the camera apps on Sony (preferred), Asus (functional), and Huawei (very good). Can anyone recommend an alternative camera app for me that might be comparable?
