Can I change my email name or account name at Murena.io?

Bought Phones with e/OS installed a year or so ago. At the time we had the same Email provider for about 20 years , so I opened an account with Murena.io with another name to test the sync features. Now we are leaving our old email provider and I would like to use the Murena.io account for sync and emails.
Is it possible to change the account murena.io to the same name on my old account? eg: myname@old-email.acc to myname@murena.io?
Thanks

  1. setup a new ecloud account on the ecloud website, give it the new name
  2. login to you old account on the ecloud website, go into the settings, delete this account
  3. setup your device in the Accounts section of the Settings to use the new account, probably you have to delete the old account first

Thanks. I was afraid you would say that. :grinning: The last set up was a nightmare. When I set up the account I had a address book in Murena.io with names in it 2 or 3 times.
Is there instructions for dummies on how to sync my desktop, cellphone and tablet with the murenia account/

I opened another account for the email. Moving the contact and calendar accounts in thunderbird is a nightnare, so I just left them with the old account. It is simpler at the present having 2 accounts. I do not have the kmowledge to migrate the calendar and contact without making a royal mess. Maybe there is a simpler address book and email client than Thunderbird. I’ll upgrade the new account so I am not freeloading.

Yeah, Thunderbird … :expressionless:

If you have data it’s a bit more complicated. The typical way is:

  1. go into the old account
  2. export your data into a local file on your PC or mobile device
  3. change into the other account
  4. import your local file into the other account

It would be ideal to use the same software for export and import. Thunderbird can do that, the contacts and calendar apps on you mobile device can also do that. Exporting contacts gives you normally a .vcf file, exporting calendar data leads to an .ics file. (Indeed it’s also good to make and keep these files from time to time for backup.)

A separate problem are mails. If you have a bunch of mails you mostly can’t export them so easy. Can’t remember if Thunderbird could do this. Most mail servers support Drag & Drop on their websites and allow to drag mails and entire folders from one account to the other. You need then both accounts opened in two browser windows side by side, try it. There’s also separate software for moving mails from one account into another (never used this).

Thanks. I am slowly working it out between a number of other task.

Hello,
may I ask which type of account it’s handle by you?
because I’ve a premium account (something bigger).
And to do like this a relocation by my own,it seems to me a little bit more tricky, because i’d like not to open and pay a new account for having 2 one for the relocation phase…
I’ve open a ticket by support, but after more than week still have no answer…

At the present time I have just the free account which I am using to sync my contacts and calendar. I opened a 2nd free account for my email that would have the same name as my old email except for the murena.io ending. As soon as I get everything migrated and working I’ll cancel the old free account and pay for the new one. Then open an account for my wife.
I have been the old service provider for 20 years so the amount of garbage I have collected is over whelming. I have about 300 website in my browsers password collection which have to be visited. Some have disappeared, some do not allow password changes, some requiring the site admin. to change the Password, most require replying to an email sent to the old address.
My biggest worry about the change is Murena. They do not seem quick to answer inquiries, their service outage that has lasted for months. I don’t want to go this change over any time again in the near future.
On the bright side it is a great time to do garbage collection.
