Cannot download from website

I am trying to download an Android App APK from a website.

I am using Shelter.

I have allowed ‘Install Unknown Sources’ for both Main and Work Profiles.

I have enabled ‘File Shuttle’ - for Cromite Browser in both the Main and Work profiles.

In the Personal/Main Profile I cannot get the Cromite Browser to download.

In the ‘Work Profile’ I have more success, but need to select a ‘Location’ for the Download, and I cannot seem to be able to select one,.

Bit stuck … should be simple thing to download a file from a web address should’nt it ?

OK, so successfully downloaded file to my PC and decided to try copy the file to the phone, but am still having no joy doing even that …

  1. Bluetooth File Transfer reports:
‘Device cannot process files of this type’ (it is an APK file)

  2. Tried copying over USB,connected phone, selected ‘File Transfer’, but cannot see any file structure or folders on the phone in windows explorer, to copy to ?? tried dropping the file on the Icon, but windows simply reports:
    ‘Cannot Copy Item’
‘The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected’.

I disconnected and reconnected several times, tried different port, but just receive the same message when trying to copy over USB.

This should be a simple task to either download or copy a file onto my e/OS Galaxy S7, stumped.

Any help appreciated.

Still at it.

So Cromite will not let me download a file from a website, when you click on a link nothing happens, when you select to:

‘choose where to download’ …

‘No Available Download Locations’

is displayed where you could select a folder location, and that is it, you cannot download.

In e/OS, going to ‘Files’ it oddly opens straight into ‘Downloads’ no other locations are available to explore, and e/OS reports:

‘Cant Load Content at Moment’ …

I am miffed …

I have also now tried DuckDuck Go Browser, if I try and download the file there I get:

‘Download Failed. Check Internet Connection’.

In ‘Files’ app, cannot create a new folder, or navigate out of the ‘Downloads’ Folder …
