I am not able to completely disable keyboard autocorrect in /e/OS. Although I have disabled autocorrect in settings/system/keyboard (I’m using the default AOSP keyboard), on some words, the keyboard still autocorrects me.
I have spell checking on, and most of the times it just shows misspelled words, but some times it goes ahead and automatically corrects it.
Is there any way to fully disable this “feature”? It drives me NUTS.
I am running /e/OS 3.7.3 (A15) on a Google Pixel 7 pro.
Long press space bar (this will also help confirm the keyboard in use) > AOSP keyboard shows Settings lower right, tap this > Text corrections shows a number of variants to correct.
But checking two different phones the ability to “disable autocorrect” seems inconsistent, perhaps I should have checked further before attempting an answer.
aibd, I think you’re onto something: although a long press on the space bar reveals “Android Keyboard (AOSP)” as expected, I see the values for the settings are different, between applications. It seems some applications “inject” their own set of values for the keyboard settings, even though they use the system-defined keyboard.
The worst offenders seem to be messaging apps (some of them still had autocorrect enabled, even though it is disabled at the system level).
I have gone through all my main apps and aligned the settings, disabling autocorrect.
I will report in a few days on whether this has fixed the problem or not.
