Cannot install Duolingo application

Hello,

I have paid Duolingo on my old phone and now I want to install it on the new SHIFTphone 8.

I added my Google account to the SHIFTphone as Google microG account, logged using this account into App Lounge but when I try to install it the install button just turns into CANCEL and nothing happens. Also tapping the app to see details shows just blank screen.

What am I missing?

Three possibilities

  1. Many have issues getting Duolingo to run Search forum – Duolingo
  2. Paid apps can be a bit hit and miss.
  3. A bug in Google login

Perhaps first try to rule in or out #3.

One way to test

  • does app-lounge work ok for Anonlymous login
  • does Google accout work if no money is involved.

OK, that link describes the issue I have. When logged in as Anonymous, I can install Duolingo, but then it is not linked to the Gmail account I have the Duolingo subscription in. And when I try to log in Duolingo, it says I already have an account and requests to log in using Google. I added my Google account besides microG one as Google one as well, but login via Google fails. So I can’t continue my progress in Duolingo using the application…

The linked forum provided the solution (by sircali): Unable to log into Duolingo App - #17 by sircali

The trick is to ask for password recovery in the application. You then open the email using (in my case) Firefox browser and long-click the recovery button in the e-mail until context menu appears where you select open in external application. Use Duolingo where you will be prompted for the new password. Since then, the app is working! HALELUJA!

I tried to login via my Murena account in the Issue 9261, but “Invalid login or password”.

My microG version is 0.3.12.250932-14. I tried logged in App Lounge with my Google account.

That sounds like you missed out on account creation at Gitlab, perhaps.
