Cannot install F-Droid on Murena Pixel tablet

Hi,

Affected devices: Murena Pixel tablet and Fairphone 4

After the recent outages of App Lounge, I want to install both Aurora and F-Droid.

I installed F-Droid several weeks ago both on my main/admin account and an additional account without any issues.
However, when trying to do the same today on another new account (several people are using the tablet), the installation of F-Droid fails with App not installed as package appears to be invalid.

I already tried several different versions of F-Droid from different sources (GitHub, GitLab, their website). Furthermore, I can reproduce the issue on my Fairphone 4 with a new additional account, too.

Both devices (Murena Pixel tablet and Fairphone 4) are running the latest official builds of /e/OS.

What I didn’t test, however, is to uninstall the existing F-Droid installations from the admin accounts of my devices and try to reinstall - of course, I don’t want to loose my existing working installations

If someone from you guys does not yet have an installation of F-Droid, it would be very interesting for me to know whether a) you can install F-Droid on your main/admin account and b) if you can do so on an additional account.

Thank you for your support :handshake:t2:

(Initially not quite the test you asked for) I do have F-Droid installed (not a problem) … but my secondary user Alice gets the message

App not installed as package appears to be invalid

on attempting to install from https://f-droid.org

Edit, 17 minutes later.

Uninstall F-Droid. Switch to Alice. Alice installs F-Droid successfully, installs a Photo editor … apparently works.

Return to user 0. Not a problem to reinstall F-Froid.

Indeed, I can confirm this behavior. Furthermore, I can confirm the same weird installation behavior with DAVx5.

Sounds like a bug, doesn’t it?
