Cannot install Tasker on e/OS v3.2

Hi, I’m using official e/OS v3.2 on a Fairphone 6 (no root, bootloader locked). I’d like to use Tasker to automate some tasks. I could install the latest direct purchase version of the app by running the apk file. Tasker installs and when I launch it I can access the setup part where you have to grant several permissions to the app. For instance, I need to allow display over other apps. However the toggle is greyed out and I cannot change it. Other apps with such permission (e.g. Shelter) don’t have that issue. Other permissions can be granted but not display over other apps. Any idea how to solve this? Is this a e/OS or Tasker issue? Thanks for your help.

I tried tasker (if we mean the same one) years ago, I think it has inapp purchase? I suppose you didn’t restore that purchase by logging in with microg…?

Years ago I purchased Tasker outside of the application by buying a license key and then downloading the app from the direct purchase link (as recommended in the Tasker FAQ). This is still working and I can install Tasker but cannot complete the install since I cannot allow the app to draw over other apps. So i’m not even able to reach the point where I can feed in my licence key. The problem is not related to app purchase. It is really that I cannot allow the app to draw over other apps because the toggle remains greyed out.

Hmm, try in the app-details if there is a 3-dot menu in the tip right corner. Maybe you can allow there more privileges. That is how I had to do it when LawnChair needed more rights to access notifications

I had to grant the “draw over other apps” permission to Tasker over ADB using Tasker Permissions app on my computer. I installed the appimage version available here. This solved the problem. It seems this permission can only be given to Tasker through ADB.
