I have just tried: I installed aurora droid from app store, and then I installed one app from aurora droid and it worked fine.
Obviously it asked for permission to install apps from this new source and like aurora store, it first download the package and then ask for install, this is because I have not the phone rooted, I guess.
I’m on unofficial Pie on Samsung s4 mini

Aurora Droid can make use of Aurora Services just like Aurora Store. When installed (via recovery) and enabled in Aurora Droid, apps will install in the background.
Tried Aurora Droid a couple of times, didn’t care for it. I remember the default repo used was always behind F-Droid. There were other niggles, too.
