Cannot receive messages in group texts

Hello /e/os community!

I am not sure it’s the proper forum to write this in. Let me knoe if I should crosspost this somewhere else.

I have read several posts on this topic. I tried the suggested solutions in those posts, but nothing does it for me.

On my FP6 using /e/os 3.2 official, I am trying to converse in a group text. Workflow is

  1. I start a group text
  2. Recipients ara a mix of iphone and android users
  3. They all can reply/send and receive messages in the group amongst themselves
  4. But I can’t see any of their replies
  5. When I write in the group chat again they all receive my subsequent messages.
  6. I am the only one who does not get any answer : all I see are my own messages in the group chat. Nothing else. I do not receive any message in the group chat.

One-on-one text messaging works great with each of them.

Not sure what’s going on.

Has anyone experienced this? What was your solution?

I’m not sure but I think it’s something to do with RCS. The other participants are likely to be using RCS but I don’t think this is supported on custom ROMs. Your phone is probably falling back to SMS.

Might it help to tell the actual app you are using? I am guessing that this is not the default Message app ??

I am using the default messages app in /e/os

Did you ever find a solution to this? I am having the exact same problem, and have been unable to identify a solution as of yet. It caused me to miss a rather important message about a family emergency already. I’ve tried several default sms apps as well with no success.

This is a major issue for me as well. I am enjoying e/OS otherwise but this may end up pushing me to switch to something else.

I have tried every solution that seemed even remotely related. Tweaking a plethora of APN/DNS/eSIM settings, multiple SMS apps (including Google Messages ), resyncing message databases, clearing app data and caches, and so many other things that I’ve already forgotten them all. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

On my end I had an eSim. What fixed it was to delete the eSim and request a new one from my operator. Clear caches etc… reboot.

Thanks for confirming your fix. For anyone else reading I’ve tried two different eSIMs and a physical SIM card with no luck. A new SIM is worth trying but didn’t help me.
