Can't Get TWRP To Persist - e Recovery Keeps Replacing

I didn’t root my device, maybe this is the issue, because I’ve always rooted in the past with Magisk, but I’m not sure if this is the issue. I did enable Rooted Debugging in the developers options.

After I run fastboot flash recovery twrp_3.6.2_11-v2.img I then boot into recovery and TWRP is there.

But if I restart the phone to e/OS, in e if I reboot to Recovery from the power button menu, it boots me into the e Recovery.

I can’t get TWRP to stick, any suggestions?

THANKS

This just enables running ADB commands as root on the phone.

On which device?

In the Updater under hamburger (3 dots) settings there is ‘Update Recovery’ option. Turn it of

@AnotherElk dumpling

@mihi it is off, doesn’t help

Thanks

Then I guess I missunderstand that option…

I don’t see a twrp_3.6.2_11-v2.img at Download TWRP for cheeseburger_dumpling … is this a legit TWRP image for dumpling?

I guess this option only applies to /e/OS updates then, not to manual TWRP installs.

Just for clarity, did you first install /e/OS with its own e-Recovery, (and all works ok?) and now you would like to replace e-Recovery with TWRP? This is quite an old TWRP compared with available A 13 (T) / A 14 dumpling.

I made a mistake on TWRP versions…

I am now using the latest TWRP;

twrp-3.7.1_12-2-cheeseburger_dumpling.img

I’m using e-2.8

I only installed/sideloaded in TWRP;

e-2.8-a14-20250221470208-community-dumpling.zip

I went to test this and flashed lineage-22.1-20250304-nightly-dumpling-signed.zip

https://download.lineageos.org/devices/dumpling/builds

TWRP sticks using lineage-22.1-20250304-nightly

Not sure why it won’t stick with e/ hmm

I boot e/ into the Bootloader and then run;

./fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.7.1_12-2-cheeseburger_dumpling.img

Then I boot to the recovery and TWRP is there, then I boot up e/, then with the Advanced Restart enabled, from the power button, I boot to recovery and the e/ recovery shows up…

Does e/ deploy dm-verity?

Ok, there is an issue with Android 14 e-2.8-a14-20250221470208-community-dumpling.zip

I flashed Android 13 e-2.8-t-20250225471522-community-dumpling.zip and TWRP sticks.

So there’s an issue with Android 14 e-2.8-a14 and I posted a bug report.

I’m surely hoping that this can be resolved in your favour.
But there’s only support for the /e/OS recovery, not for TWRP, so please be positively surprised if they fix it, and not negatively surprised if they won’t :wink: .
